Specialising in stress and anxiety management, Earth Energies Sanctuary retreat is a sublime new addition to the wellness selection in NZ, offering deep relaxation therapies for mind and body. Only one hour’s drive from Auckland, you can take off on a wellness journey designed to bring about balance of body, mind and soul.

Rooms, Facilities, and Activities at Earth Energies Sanctuary

‘Overnight guests can delight in the comfort of the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom cabin set in the heart of the property, here, the air is fresh, clean and invigorating, and the property’s hilly nature means you enjoy spectacular, awe-inspiring 360-degree views. With a self-catered kitchen, or “ We create You cook’ Chef prepared meals, you’ll want for nothing. Your privacy and seclusion are assured during your stay you only share the property with the private, quiet owners whose residence is more than 800 metres away from your cabin.’

Choose from individually tailored, full or half-day therapies. I got to try a few of the treatments (Infrared Sauna, Flotation tank, Zero Balance, Hypnotherapy) during my visit and loved the experience. The service is authentic, cosy and personal. Inspired by their own wellness journey, the owners, Marie and her husband Duncan, have created a charming oasis which helps you take a step back and remember the importance of balance in life.

It’s easy to tell that they are passionate about what they do and care about you and your well-being. Marie has a great interest for alchemy and has her own herb/organic apothecary on the property, where she makes all of her own products sourced from the wild vegetation, such as Kawakawa. Viva NZ also recently published an article outlining what a visit can be like.

I arrived around lunch time and left completely relaxed, decompressed and rag doll-like at 6+ hours later. This is a great option when you need to unwind, disconnect, and return to your reality as a new person.

What others have said:
A beautiful, magical part of NZ! Close enough to Auckland and Waikato. Far enough away from everything to switch off and truly relax. Magnificent views which give you an elevated feeling of being on the top of the world! This was certainly the feeling I had also experienced after the luxurious float in the floatation tank and after my zero balancing treatment. What a gift it was to visit and experience earth energies sanctuary! I will certainly be back for more.

‘Our relationship with the Te Arai region began over 25 years ago, visiting the area for holidays with our family and staying with Kathy’s parents in nearby Mangawhai, where her father, NZ Golf Legend, Ted McDougall, worked as the pro at the Mangawhai Golf Course.

After many years of searching, 15 years ago we bought our bare block of land surrounded by an ancient podocarp forest and native bush, which offered all the attributes we were looking for to develop the vision we had for the Lodge.
