The end of March saw the release of new movie Hunt for the Wilderpeople based on the book Wild Pork and Watercress by iconic Kiwi Barry Crump.
It’s the fourth film directed by Taika Waititi to premiere at Sundance Festival – after Eagle Vs Shark, Boy and What We Do In The Shadows, which all won critical acclaim. Taika is also taking on directorial duties for the next Thor film, Thor: Ragnarok due for release in July 2017.
The film stars Sam Neill, Julian Dennison and Rachel House in a plot based around a national manhunt after a rebellious kid and his foster uncle go missing in the wild New Zealand bush.
It’s the ideal film to excite international film producers about New Zealand’s spectacular film locations, and to entice visitors to New Zealand interested in hunting or fishing in our great outdoors!

About Barry Crump
Barry Crump (1935-1996) was a New Zealand author who penned many novels capitalising on his appeal as an outdoors, blokey man. He worked for many years as a government deer culler and wrote a book A Good Keen Man (1960) based on his experiences which was a popular novel in New Zealand.

Saturday 23 April from 1pm-9pm is a Half Day Shoot and Game Menu that includes 6 flurries of 50 targets, afternoon tea, 3 course game menu at The Lodge, 4 glasses of fine NZ wine or beer, and return coach transport to/from Hobson Street in Auckland City.
